The cause for concern in the recent past is the question as to whether smoking the plant is as effective as other forms of ingestion.

Studies shows that the active alkaloids in Kratom leaves, namely 7-hydroxymitragynine and mitragynine, are either neutralized or denatured as a result of smoking, thus rendering them less effective.

Why Is Smoking Kratom Powder Not Recommended?

While smoking the plant may bring a lot of benefits, the method is not recommended over oral consumption because;

1. It Is Expensive

As previously stated, a large amount of Kratom powder is needed for it to deliver its effects proficiently through smoking. Because of this reason, smoking the plant is considered impractical, cost-preventative and overly expensive.

Users are not recommended to smoke the plant because this method will not only increase their expenses but will also cause them the inconveniences of buying large stocks of Kratom powder. Which are very tricky and difficult to store properly.

2. It Is Less Effective

In addition to its high expense rates, smoking the plant is also known to be less effective in delivering the effects typically associated with its oral use.

The physical nature of the leaf material, with its high ratio of cellulose fiber, prevents the user from achieving the desired effects through smoking.

Moreover, compared to other smokeable drugs, Kratom leaves doesn’t have a very high content of alkaloids. Due to which smoking small amounts doesn’t extricate the full potential of the plant.

3. It Causes Health Problems

About other methods of consumption, smoking Kratom is believed to present an individual with more significant health risks.

In a study Published Online on July 24, 2017, researchers stated that the leaves of the Kratom plant had a very high tar content, and smoking those leaves released that tar directly into the lungs. Thus increasing the risk of cancer in the same way that smoking cigarette did.

In addition to this, smoking the plant has also been found to cause respiratory problems, including damage to the lungs and asthma.

However, to date, there have been no reports of a fatal overdose that one can link with Kratom smoking. It proves that Kratom consumption, in no form, can induce death.

Another user commented, “Kratom can be smoked, but doing so is impractical because the amount of leaf that constitutes a typical dose is too much to be smoked easily.

The users argued that the common forms of intake were preferable over smoking. One user said, “I just tried smoking Kratom a few days ago, it was a lot more trouble than the good old ‘Toss and Wash.’”

The overall responses of the users showed that they’d rather stick to the old methods than try smoking Kratom.

  1. I wanted kratom to work for me so much!! First time stupidly mixed with orange juice on an empty stomach and threw up after 10 minutes. Second time mixed with yogurt, again threw it up. This is 1 teaspoon powder! Finally decided to try parachuting. This was the best, but I was a bit disturbed about ingesting toilet tissue. 2 grams, and I definitely had a somewhat relaxed body feeling. So today I try 4 grams in toilet tissue, and I get so sick and vomit again. I don’t think it’s worth it for me. Was going to eliminate some medications. I am happy there are people it works well for.

  2. As anything, some people can take it and some people cant. I am smoking my 2nd joint rn w/ Kratom in it. In a 4 hr period. And this is my first time trying Kratom. I added less than a gram per joint. I also kept one end of the joint Kratom free so I dont inhale the powder while smoking. My first joint, My pain lvls were far less than what I have felt like all day. So yes I got relief from it. It took about 15/20 minutes to kick in.
I am not a person of substance abuse or even any type of addiction ever. I suffer from DDD DJD & Fibromyalgia I also have a bulged disk and a herniated disk in my spine, w/ 2 twisted vertebras in my neck. I also have Bursitis in my right hip. along w/ CFS. Do not drink at all taking Kratom! dont take medications while you are on Kratom until you speak w/ your Dr.. If you oral ingest Kratom it says to only do 1 gram and make sure you take real Lemon Juice too so it can activate it in your body. and make sure you drink plenty of water. (5-6 ) after you have it orally throughout the day. Since I have typed this, I have smoked my 2nd joint half way w/ a lil less than 1 gram in it, and its already kicking in.
It feels nice to have something help for once. any lesser pain is always a good thing! Im glad I did my homework on it and decided to try it.
